Academic Integrity and Academic Misconduct

“Academic integrity means a commitment to act with honesty, trustworthiness, fairness, respect and responsibility in all academic work” (Adelaide University Academic Integrity Policy, p.1). These values guide the behaviour of everyone in the academic world, including students, teachers and scholars.

Academic Integrity in practice means:

  • Acknowledging the sources of information and knowledge in your assignments by using a referencing system.
  • Paraphrasing other people's work and ideas into your own words while still referencing the source.
  • Completing your own work independently.
  • Behaving honestly in exams, assignments, and other forms of academic work.

For more information on Academic Integrity and Academic Misconduct, refer to Adelaide University’s Academic Integrity Policy.

You can also meet with a Learning Adviser to discuss any questions or issues you have about how to maintain your academic integrity.
