Students with disabilities

Adelaide University Student Assist team gathering

If you have a disability, injury or health condition that may affect your placement, speak with an Adelaide University Disability Adviser or your Program Director as early as possible.

Together, you’ll:

  • clarify how your condition may affect your placement
  • identify any challenges in the placement environment
  • create a support plan that works for you and your host organisation.

You can also apply for pre-allocation special consideration.

Access and inclusion

At Adelaide University, we’re committed to supporting and empowering our students to achieve their academic goals and participate equitably in all aspects of university life. Our goal is to create a culture that embraces, respects and celebrates diversity in all its forms.

Confidentiality

Your privacy is protected by both Adelaide University and the Australian Government’s Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

Under this legislation, you can speak with a disability officer about any concerns or support needs. This information will not be shared with your placement venue unless you give consent.

While disclosure is always your choice, sharing relevant information early can help us provide tailored support and contribute to your success. If you have an injury or disability, whether temporary or ongoing, we encourage you to let us know as soon as possible.

Early notification helps our staff support you effectively and maintain strong relationships with our industry partners.
