International students: your core Orientation events

Orientation is made up of Connect Week (9-13 February) and O’Week (16-20 February) designed to help you feel confident, connected and ready to start university life. 

Events continue through Weeks 1–4, so you can keep meeting people and exploring university life. 


Step 1: Register and attend an International Welcome Reception

You only need to register for and attend ONE International Welcome Reception. Choose the time and location that works best for you


Step 2: Register for your Degree Welcome 

Your academic welcome session where you’ll learn about your degree, and meet academics and classmates. This is a key part of your Orientation experience. 


Step 3: Register and attend an activity led by our International Student Support team 

Get ready to explore Adelaide and make new friends! Here are two events you won't want to miss. 

Victor Harbor

Join us for a day trip to Victor Harbor, just over an hour from Adelaide! Enjoy stunning coastal views, the iconic horse-drawn tram to Granite Island, and visit Urimbirra Wildlife Park to see koalas, kangaroos and more. It's the perfect way to meet new people.

Glenelg Beach

Join us for a fun and relaxing time at Glenelg Beach, one of Adelaide's most popular coastal spots! Soak up the sun, play some games, enjoy ice cream, and meet new people. Plus, you'll learn essential beach safety tips.

O’Week: Explore, connect, celebrate

O’Week is all about diving into university life. Beyond your Degree Welcomes, there’s a line-up of campus activities to help you connect and celebrate starting at Adelaide University.

Adelaide University Student Association (AUSA) activities

From first hellos to lifelong memories, AUSA is bringing a huge week of freebies, live music, games, crafts and free food, plus your chance to meet some of the faces you’ll soon see around campus. We’ll be popping up at metro campuses on their aligned Orientation days, with City East as our main activation, so you can connect with us wherever you’re studying.

AU Sport activities

There will be a Sport at Adelaide University stall at Orientation events across six campuses from 16–20 February, aligned with each campus’s Orientation Day. Learn about clubs, elite sport, scholarships, intervarsity sport, sport & fitness facilities, and membership discounts.

Sports Village at City East campus is your chance to connect with 40+ sport clubs, watch demonstrations, and join fitness challenges, taking place at the Cloisters and Jacaranda Lawns outside UniBar.

Adelaide University Library workshops

Join us to explore the Adelaide University Library’s wide range of services to support your assignments and study. Learn about library locations and study spaces, how to find resources using Library Search, and how to get help from the Ask Library team.

Student Support Expos

Student Support Expos are pop-up events held across all metro campuses in Weeks 2 and 3, designed to help you connect with the services and support available as you settle into study at Adelaide University. Meet key student support and community services, ask questions, and find out where to go for help throughout the year.

No registrations required. Drop in, complete Expo Bingo to score exclusive merchandise, and enjoy a free treat at each campus.

Kaurna Day

Adelaide University invites you to celebrate Kaurna Day 2026 - Tirkanthi - Ngutu - Taikurrinthi (Learning – Knowledge - Be united together), a day to honour, learn from, and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. The day begins with a sunrise Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country, followed by a full program of music, dance, storytelling, workshops, and community activities across Adelaide City Campus East.

Kaurna Day is a free community event - everyone is welcome! 
Join us on Thursday, 5 March 2026, 7 am–2:30 pm, as we celebrate the connection between Adelaide University and the First Nations peoples on whose lands we live and learn – the Kaurna, Boandik, and Bangarla peoples – and recognise the rich diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures across Australia.  

Explore and experience:

  • Performances by First Nations artists from the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM)
  • Community stalls featuring Indigenous artists and vendors
  • Student and researcher showcases, highlighting First Nations-led research and learning
  • Cultural activities, native animal displays, and interactive experiences on the Barr Smith Lawns

Come for an hour or stay for the day — Kaurna Day is a time to connect, learn, and celebrate together.
