Your guide to getting started – what to do, what to know, and where to get help.

Welcome to the Adelaide University community. This page details the steps you’ll need to complete before you commence your classes. You can follow the steps now or come back later.

Your must-do checklist


You will need your account to use Adelaide University systems.

Steps to activate:

  1. Before you log on for the first time, you will need to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA). To do this, you will need your computer and a mobile device.
  2. On your mobile device, download Okta Verify from your app store.
  3. On your computer, click the student account and email activation link.
  4. Click activate your AU account. You will be taken to the account activation page.
  5. Enter your Adelaide University account number from your welcome email (e.g. a1234567)
  6. Click ‘Send’ – we will email your personal address.
  7. Complete the activation. Open the email from no-reply@okta.adelaide.edu.au and follow the instructions to finish setting up your account. The link will expire in seven days, so be sure to activate within this timeframe.
  8. Sign in to the Adelaide University student portal, myAdelaide, using your password and Okta Verify. 

Visit the Enrolment website to learn how to access your study plan, request credit (if applicable), and finalise your enrolment. There is a video and a user guide to take you through the process.

Orientation is your chance to explore our learning spaces, connect with staff and students, and prepare yourself for study. You can attend on campus or online.

Online Orientation

Complete the AU Ready Orientation module to access tailored advice, key information, and practical tips to help you succeed in your studies and feel connected to Adelaide University.

Your ID card is used for exams, library borrowing and student discounts.  You will need to upload a passport-style photo of yourself and nominate a Student Assist location for collection.

If you’re an external student, you will also need to upload proof of photo ID (such as a driver's licence or passport). You will be able to request for your student ID card to be mailed out to you.

Adelaide University has a comprehensive suite of support services that span a range of areas, including academic supportstudent finance and access and inclusion. There is also support for First Nations studentsElite Sport and Performersinternational students and veterans.

It’s important that you set yourself up for success before you commence your studies. If you have a disability, mental health condition, long-term illness, or carer responsibilities, request an access plan now. This will help the University to arrange any adjustments you may need before Week One.

You can also schedule an appointment with an Access and Inclusion Adviser using the online booking system. You’ll need your student ID to book online. Alternatively, you can call 08 8313 5962 to make an appointment.
