The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Master of Research Cohort Scholarship at Adelaide University offers a unique opportunity to take charge of your research journey.

As a successful applicant, you’ll receive a tax-free scholarship stipend valued at $53,608 per annum*. Additionally, you’ll pay no tuition fees.

*Tax-free scholarship available to graduate research students enrolled in full-time study. The $53,608 amount reflects the 2026 indexed value.

About Adelaide University research degrees

The Master of Research is an innovative 1.5-year degree that combines 0.5 years of research-focused coursework to develop your research skills with a one-year research project.

It will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to make a tangible impact through research, broaden your career prospects across a range of sectors, and qualify you for direct entry into Adelaide University’s flagship research degree, the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

How to apply

Applying for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Master of Research Cohort Scholarship is a two-step process.

  1. Complete the expression of interest form to register your interest.
  2. Once you’ve submitted the form, please email the following documents to research.scholarships@adelaideuni.edu.au:

If you’re selected as a competitive candidate, you’ll receive a conditional offer of admission and scholarship. We’ll then guide you through the next steps to commencement.

  • Expressions of interest open on Monday 16 March 2026
  • Expressions of interest close at 11:59pm on Monday 6 April 2026
  • Classes commence Monday 3 August (Semester 2).
