IIMPACT (Innovation, IMPlementation and Clinical Translation) in Health at Adelaide University brings together world-class researchers across allied health to tackle complex, real-world health challenges.

Our capabilities are built on three pillars — scale, focus, and translation.

Focus on impact

Targeting high-burden conditions and health inequities such as persistent pain, mental health, breathlessness, stroke, and child health; and concentrating our efforts where they matter most, we drive solutions that strengthen health systems and services, improving access to care and quality of life.

Translation into practice

Embedding implementation from the outset, so discoveries can rapidly improve care and outcomes. By working alongside consumers, clinicians, policymakers, and industry partners throughout every stage of the research process — from discovery to implementation. This collaborative approach empowers communities, informs policy, and ensures our work delivers lasting benefits.

This integrated approach ensures our research is rigorous, relevant, and ready for real-world application. Through co-design with end-users and strong engagement across communities, we create evidence that informs both practice and policy — shaping the future of allied health and public health innovation.

At IIMPACT in Health, research doesn’t stop at discovery — it extends into practice, policy, and community engagement to create meaningful change.

Our research has fast-tracked the adoption of new approaches in pain management, stroke recovery, digital health innovation, collaborative practice models, telehealth delivery, and rural health access. These initiatives demonstrate our ability to embed research within healthcare systems, reducing inequities and improving outcomes across diverse populations.

Beyond measurable outcomes, we also invest in people. Through mentorship, clinician-researcher training, and student engagement, we are building capacity across the health workforce — ensuring innovation remains central to Australia’s health future.
