Adelaide University has a range of scholarship and funding opportunities specifically to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduate research students undertaking a research degree. In addition to the opportunities listed below, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduate researchers are also encouraged to apply for other scholarships listed on the Research Scholarships webpage. 

Major scholarships 


These scholarships are funded by the Australian Government to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduate research students who are commencing or currently undertaking a graduate research program (PhD or MPhil) at Adelaide University. These scholarships are provided at the highest RTP rate.

This scholarship is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduate research students undertaking a Master of Research.

Top-up scholarships


This scholarship is awarded to the highest-ranking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduate research student allocated a major scholarship in the competitive scholarship rounds. Find out more, including detailed information on how to apply and conditions of the award

Other funding opportunities 


This fund is designed to support commencing graduate research students to kickstart their research degree and enable their success. The scheme will support a range of activities that help to establish graduate research students in their research program and degree, such as training or courses, and relocation expenses. Principal supervisors may contact the Graduate Research School for an application form. 

This fund is designed to enhance current graduate research students’ learning and research training experience; and as an example, will contribute financial assistance to conference attendance, research visits, and community engagement. Principal supervisors may contact the Graduate Research School for an application form.
