Research impact

As part of the MinEx CRC and together with industry, FII is addressing crucial challenges facing the mineral resources sector. MinEx CRC is focused on developing innovative exploration tools to discover the next generation of mineral deposits and enhance Australia’s position as a global leader in mineral resources technology.

Located within the Future Industries Institute, CRC SAAFE is partnering with more than 70 companies and research institute to tackle antimicrobial resistance, which is a potential threat to our food and water supply.

FII is part of Australia’s national centre for advancing regenerative therapy research, development, and manufacturing. The vision is to accelerate the availability and adoption of regenerative therapies in Australia and globally.

The centre brings together industry partners, developing the next generation of products and services, and research institutions to conduct cutting-edge research, develop new technologies, and drive innovation to foster a globally competitive innovation ecosystem for advanced manufacturing.

FII is one of the lead partners within the RACE for 2030 CRC. The CRC is working on projects that are focused on reducing energy costs, cutting carbon emissions and increasing customer load flexibility and reliability of renewables in the grid. FII researchers are working on projects that aim to improve the energy productivity of cold chain logistics.

Teaming up with manufacturing specialists Amaero, SMR Australia and Defence Science Technology Group, FII will develop the next generation of 3D printed materials to build compact optical systems for satellites.
