Driving solutions for complex sustainability challenges

We bring together experts from accounting, governance and related fields to tackle some of the world’s toughest sustainability challenges. Working closely with industry, we co-design research and policies that keep communities and environments secure. Current projects include improving sustainability reporting to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the Indo-Pacific, combining accounting and environmental data for better farming and water use, shaping tax policy, and creating tools to help businesses address modern slavery.

Supporting industries to make better choices during times of uncertainty

Our resource allocation and management team gives decision-makers clear evidence on how to use limited resources. We measure the real-world impact of choices on efficiency and fairness at local, regional, national and international levels. We blend economics with other sciences to tackle big challenges and support fair, sustainable growth. Our areas of focus include cost–benefit analysis, optimisation, agricultural and ecological-economic modelling, consumer behaviour, non-market valuation, decision support tools, and strategies for inclusive urban and regional development.

Building a more inclusive future

We work directly with marginalised communities to provide the evidence needed for policy and practice changes that improve lives. Our research spans population change, how people interact with the built environment, housing supply and homelessness, community development, disability, migrant communities, indigenous wellbeing and new forms of social enterprise.

Understanding the dynamics of the global economy, justice and society

Our Policy and Regulation team specialises in behavioural finance, banking in emerging economies, capital markets, corporate finance and social responsibility, financial planning and commercial law. We focus on identifying trends and creating solutions to today’s social and economic challenges.

The research we conduct makes a difference in people’s lives. We co-create evidence with communities, governments and industry to drive changes in policy and practice that lead to a more inclusive and sustainable future locally, nationally and globally.

We partner across sectors to design and deliver projects that draw on multiple disciplines and uphold values of diversity, transparency, justice, equity and inclusion. This approach ensures outcomes that are both impactful and sustainable.

We also collaborate with the wider academic community, research students, peers, publishers and international partners to extend our expertise, share knowledge and build networks that showcase our research nationally and globally.

By leveraging our existing skills, partnerships and networks, we strengthen our capacity to form focused working groups around pressing social issues. The real-world impact of our research is clear in the projects we deliver.
