Adelaide Data Science Centre

Researchers in a data lab

Providing statistical data science expertise across research, education and industry.

The Adelaide Data Science Centre (ADSC) is a leading research and training centre based within Adelaide University’s College of Science.

Renowned for our expertise in both statistics and mathematical modelling as key components of the data science process, the ADSC is an interdisciplinary hub of world-class researchers and a proud member of the Australian Data Science Network.

At the ADSC, we collaborate with a network of data scientists across Adelaide University, provide consulting services to research and industry and offer data science training.

Trustworthiness and explainability

We run a regular series of informal seminars, where data science experts discuss cutting-edge research findings and facilitate a data science community of practice for both academic staff and students.

Through our partnerships with industry and government, we translate our data science research expertise into tangible real-world solutions. By using evidence-based, data-driven approaches that are grounded in our desire to solve real-world problems, we deliver value and create impact for partners beyond academia. Some of the industry and government organisations we have partnered with include:

We collaborate with well-known industry partners and thriving student clubs including:

Australian Data Science Network (ADSN)

The aim of the Australian Data Science Network (ADSN) is to connect the concentrations of expertise in data science across Australia, in order to improve communication, encourage collaboration, expand opportunities and promote our individual and collective capabilities.

Society of Quantitative Analysis and Data (SQUAD)

SQUAD is a student society uniting all people interested in quantitative analysis and data science. Throughout the year, SQUAD hosts a variety of events, including technical workshops, Q&A panels, a datathon and social activities, allowing students to learn and meet like-minded peers.

Biometry hub

In the era of data-rich agriculture, biometry research involves methodological statistics development and the use of modern scientific computing methods for the design and analysis of research studies and experiments conducted in the life sciences. The Biometry Hub specialises in statistical methodologies for field trials, comparative and multi-factorial experiments and field sampling in application to agriculture, horticulture, oenology and food sciences.

Australian Consortium for Epidemic Forecasting & Analytics (ACEFA)

The Australian Consortium for Epidemic Forecasting & Analytics (ACEFA) is working to support the timely, effective response to epidemic diseases in Australia through real-time data analytics, modelling and forecasting.

Process Mining in Adelaide Group

The Process Mining in Adelaide group, led by Dr Anna Kalenkova, develops and applies data-driven techniques for analysing processes in retail, software development, finance, social networks, healthcare and other domains. These methods span a range of approaches, including digital twins and advanced analytical techniques.
