About me

Dr Yousef Amer is a senior academic leader in engineering, engineering management, and supply chain systems at Adelaide University, where he serves as Program Director, Research Degree Coordinator, Academic Integrity Officer, and Summative Peer Review of Teaching reviewer within the College of Engineering and Information Technology. With over two decades of academic and industry experience in Australia, including senior roles with multinational organisations headquartered in the United States and Europe, Dr Amer is internationally recognised for his contributions to mechanical and industrial engineering and the application of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to complex engineering and supply chain systems. His expertise spans Artificial Intelligence, enabled engineering, Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0, engineering management, Supply Chain Management, Lean Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma, and sustainable, human-centred smart manufacturing. His research addresses contemporary challenges in resilient, intelligent, and ethical production and supply networks through advanced modelling, simulation, optimisation, digital twins, and data-driven decision support. Dr Amer has published over 120 peer-reviewed scholarly works in leading Q1 and Q3 international journals and books and has successfully supervised more than 20 PhD candidates to completion, in addition to numerous Master’s and Honours research projects. His current research portfolio focuses on the integration of AI, robotics, IoT, and cyber-physical systems to enhance productivity, safety, sustainability, and workforce capability across advanced manufacturing, logistics, and aged care systems. He holds editorial leadership roles with several high-impact international journals, including the International Journal of Production Economics, IEEE Systems Journal, Information Sciences, and the Journal of Soft Computing, and regularly serves as a peer reviewer for leading publishers, including Inderscience Publishers (e.g. International Journal of Management Practice). Strongly committed to academic excellence, industry engagement, and translational impact, Dr Amer integrates research-led, industry-aligned, and experiential learning approaches to develop adaptive, ethical, and future-ready engineers and supply chain professionals.
