About me
Sandy is a Research Project Officer in the College of
Business and Law. She has worked for Professor Andrew Beer since 2012,
initially as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Housing Urban and Regional
Planning (CHURP) at the University of Adelaide, and then during his time at the
University of South Australia from 2015 to 2025. Following the merge of the
University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide, she continues to
support Professor Beer in the new Adelaide University.
Over her career, Sandy has been involved in many research
projects on topics such as structural adjustment, housing and homelessness,
just transitions, place-based leadership, population, regional development,
regional housing and local government.
Prior to her university positions, Sandy was a student at
the University of Adelaide. She graduated with a BA in 2012 majoring in
Classical Studies and History. During the final stages of her degree she was
selected for the university’s Arts Internship Program with the Migration Museum
in Adelaide on the topic of Dutch migrants in South Australia. She was awarded
a Summer Research Scholarship in 2011-2012.
Before pursuing her academic interests, Sandy had a long
career in the printing and publishing industries as a desktop publisher. She
has also served as an electoral officer for Local, State and Federal elections.
