About me
Rajabrata Banerjee (aka Raj Banerjee) is a Professor of Applied Economics and an Academic Lead in the School of Economics at Adelaide University. Raj holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Calcutta (Scottish Church College), an MA in Economics from Jadavpur University, and a PhD in Economics from Monash University. Raj’s research sits at the intersection of economics and finance, with a strong focus on applied development economics. Prof Banerjee is also passionate about teaching and has taught a broad range of economics courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As an Academic Lead and a committed educator and mentor, he plays many key leadership roles in developing future leaders in economics and policy within the School of Economics. He is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Economic Society of Australia, American Economic Association, Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability (Monash University), and a fellow of the South Australian Governor’s Leadership Foundation program.
