Profile of Melanie Brown

About me

I work with the Teaching Excellence team to support academic and professional staff through a range of activities which develop, recognise, and reward excellence in teaching or support of learning.

In December 2021 Melanie became a Higher Education Academy Fellow (Advance HE).

Melanie was previously the Manager, Teaching Excellence at the University of Adelaide.

Prior to coming to the University of Adelaide in 2019, Melanie was Senior Academic Developer in the central Learning and Teaching team at RMIT Vietnam. She held this position for five and a half years during which she led and collaborated on curriculum development projects in the areas of authentic assessment, blended learning, and accessible learning materials and supported academic staff to incorporate these approaches into their teaching practice. She also supported great teachers to articulate their approach and be recognised for their positive impact on student learning through campus and university level teaching awards.

Melanie came to academic development from a teaching position as lecturer and then senior lecturer within the Professional Communication program at RMIT Vietnam where she taught courses in media and public relations and coordinated development opportunities for the team.
