Profile of Eddie Major

About me

As Adelaide University’s AI Learning and Teaching Coordinator, I’m helping build our institutional approach to the strategic adoption and governance of AI in teaching. Alongside this, I also work in AI policy research and analysis for the global AI safety community.

Previously, I served as Communications Manager for the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) where I also led strategic communication to establish the national Kingston AI Group. My work has raised the public profile of Australia’s AI research capability and helped shape government AI policy and safety initiatives at the state and federal levels.

I hold a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy from the University of Adelaide and a Bachelor of Communication from the University of South Australia.

Media experience
I have experience in media engagement and public commentary on AI policy, governance, and national capability strategy.

Previously, I managed media relations for the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML), where I ghostwrote opinion articles for national mastheads and edited major reports for publication. Prior to joining the AI community in 2021, I worked in media and PR roles for more than a decade.
