About me
Katherine Adnett is a Senior Research Fellow and leads the Teaching Futures Pathway within the Education Futures Academy, a key component of the national High Achieving Teachers (HAT) Program funded by the Australian Government Department of Education.
Katherine brings extensive expertise in educational leadership, governance, and innovation across R–12 sectors in Australia and the United Kingdom. She has held senior executive and sector-level roles influencing education policy and reform, most recently as Director of The Centre for Innovation at the Association of Independent Schools. Her leadership was recognised nationally as an Excellence Awardee – Deputy Principal of the Year.
She coordinates program courses in Pragmatic Adaptive Leadership and Pragmatic Adaptive Design. Through these courses, she supports educators to develop adaptive expertise, enabling leadership capability, and evidence‑informed approaches to leading improvement and innovation in complex educational environments.
Katherine’s practice‑led research with more than 90 South Australian schools strengthens leaders’ capacity to navigate complexity with strategic foresight, effective project leadership, and deep organisational learning awareness. Her long‑term innovation work informed her thesis in Leading Innovation and Change and has been featured in publications by the Centre for Strategic Education.
