About me
Dr Kate Rhodes RN BPsych BHSc(Hons) PhD.
I am an experienced mental health clinician
and academic active in the development, delivery and evaluation of mental
health programs within UniSA’s Clinical and Health Sciences. I have worked
clinically as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years in general medical,
developmental disability, but predominantly in mental health. I have extensive experience across a range of mental health
settings including crisis intervention in suicide prevention, emergency mental
health assessment, mental health inpatient and community care, and mental
health and suicide prevention education. After completing a first-class honours
degree in psychology in 2011, I graduated with a PhD in the School of Medicine at Flinders University in
2017. I worked closely with psychology, sociology, and public health to deliver
a randomised control trial using an intervention motivating healthy lifestyle
behaviours that reduce the incidence of certain cancers and chronic diseases,
across three generational families with a cross-cultural comparison. Throughout
my career I have demonstrated extensive understanding of community engagement
in mixed methods research and evaluation, report writing and high-level reviews
of evidence. I have contributed to new course design and development as a
content expert and member of the Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
Research and Education team. Contact by email Kate.Rhodes@unisa.edu.au or phone 8302 2102.
