About me

Joanna Sundstrom is the Research & Training Manager for the South Australian ImmunoGENomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI) at Adelaide University.  Joanna enjoys using her scientific research experience and project management skills to support SAiGENCI's graduate research students and supervisors by leading student lifecycle management and strengthening research training and professional development opportunities for SAiGENCI's emerging cancer researchers.  Joanna also provides research management support to SAiGENCI's Prostate Cancer Research Group and Resistance Prevention Program through coordinating research operations, funding opportunities, and building strong collaborations. 

Joanna has over ten years of scientific research experience having completed a PhD in plant molecular biology and postdoctoral research in the field of wine microbiology.  Prior to joining SAiGENCI, Joanna was Centre Manager for the Australian Research Council Training Centre for Innovative Wine Production at The University of Adelaide (2017 - 2022) where she enjoyed combining her scientific background and research management skills to support the Centre’s Director, academic researchers and PhD students and maintained mutually beneficial relationships with the Centre’s industry stakeholders.
