About me
Jacinta Lamacchia is the Communications and Events
Specialist for the Defence Artificial Intelligence Research Network (DAIRNet).
Jacinta has experience in research, marketing, communications, and stakeholder
engagement. Jacinta joined Adelaide University in 2026, previously from the
University of South Australia (UniSA) in 2021, following five years in the
higher education sector where she managed a range of engagement initiatives.
Prior to this, she worked as a researcher and developed expertise in science
communication.
At DAIRNet, Jacinta leads the development and delivery of
communication and event strategies across DAIRNet projects and initiatives. Her
role includes coordinating events, symposiums, and seminars, as well as
maintaining DAIRNet’s marketing materials, producing reports, and highlighting
achievements across the broader Defence AI ecosystem.
DAIRNet is an initiative of the Department of Defence,
managed by Adelaide University, with the mission to "connect Defence
opportunities with next-generation AI solutions." DAIRNet brings together
thought leaders to support a collaborative, co-design approach to advancing
sovereign AI capabilities for Defence.
As a connector between Defence, academia, and industry,
DAIRNet collaborates with the Defence AI Program, the Defence AI Centre (DAIC),
and other stakeholders within the Defence AI ecosystem.
