About me
Dr David Kitchen is an Australian-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in hip and knee surgery, including joint replacement and the management of lower limb injuries. He completed advanced fellowship training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, and has undertaken additional visiting fellowships across Europe, gaining exposure to contemporary international practice.He holds a PhD from the University of Adelaide focused on patient-reported outcomes following tibial plateau fractures, underpinning a strong commitment to research-informed, evidence-based care. He has published in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of orthopaedic trauma and arthroplasty.Dr Kitchen is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide and serves as the lead for musculoskeletal education within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN). He is also an orthopaedic trainee supervisor within NALHN, actively involved in teaching, mentorship, and the development of junior doctors and surgical trainees.He holds public hospital appointments at Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals, where he manages both elective and trauma orthopaedic patients. Dr Kitchen is committed to delivering patient-centred care with a focus on restoring function and improving quality of life.
