First Nations high school experiences

Students admiring anechoic chamber

At Adelaide University, we strive for excellence in Aboriginal higher education, and this starts with creating opportunities for First Nations high school students to experience university. We aim to build students’ confidence and motivation to pursue tertiary studies through a range of experiences, from academic enrichment to immersive educational and cultural activities. By participating in our experiences, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can discover study options and pathways to university, plus get an insight into student life, support services and more.

All experiences can be booked through our dedicated First Nations Outreach team.

Tours and school visits

Campus tours and school visits

Adelaide University offers tailored visits and tours to our campuses, giving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students opportunities to experience what studying at Adelaide University would be like.

On-campus visits offer a range of activities and can be tailored to your students. Activities can include:

  • Tours around university grounds and facilities, including the Wirringka study centres

  • Meeting the First Nations Student Support team

  • Information sessions about university pathways and entry programs

  • Cultural activities

  • Meeting current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to learn more about university life.

Outreach school visits

Accessibility to on-campus activities can be challenging for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in regional and rural schools. Future Student Engagement Officers visit schools in metropolitan Adelaide, regional and rural South Australia and interstate to inspire students to pursue tertiary education, offering presentations, activities and information about our degrees and university pathways.
