The Planetarium is open during the advertised public sessions, and by appointment only at other times. The Planetarium holds Saturday sessions every first and third Saturday of the month. During school holidays, there are additional activities that run throughout the week. Bookings are essential for all activities.

The Planetarium is located at Adelaide University’s Mawson Lakes Campus. It is located on Level 2 of Building P, and the office and front desk is on Level 1. Getting to the Planetarium is easy, with many public transport options close by including buses and trains. Car parking is also available on campus.

If you are visiting the Planetarium on a weekday, the ML6 carpark is available for you to park in. Adelaide University uses an electronic pay-as-you-go parking system called Parki, which you can access via pay stations adjacent the car park or via an app. To find out more, visit the parking and transport web page.

To avoid a parking fine, please park in the ML6 carpark or along University Boulevard, then visit a nearby pay station to pay for your park. You will need to know your vehicle's registration number. A pay station is located out the front of the materials and minerals building (the white building next to the Planetarium). There is no requirement to display your receipt in your vehicle.

Yes! The Planetarium can provide a unique venue for a special occasion including anniversaries, proposals and corporate reward experiences. Special occasion sessions are an intimate session for a maximum of four people, and the unique venue will offer an experience unlike any other ordinary celebration.

We love having school groups visit and offer a number of different activities that cater to different ages. With a maximum seating capacity of 45 people, we can accommodate most groups. Learn about the origins of the stars and constellation names, using traditional star lore and mythology. Topics covered are guided by the South Australian Curriculum, Standards and Accountability (SACSA) Framework Strand, Earth and Space, for the Standard of each year. This includes understanding the basic motions of the sun, earth and moon and their effect on everyday life; components of the solar system; and understanding the universe and the nature of space exploration.
