The Barr Smith Library

The Friends of the Adelaide University Library network promotes and fosters interest and support for the University Library from alumni and the wider community. The Friends of the Library: 

  • Advocate for, promote and foster interest in and support for the Library as a cultural centre and the heart of the University campus 
  • Increase knowledge of the role, collections, services and facilities of the Library and its role in research, scholarship and community information 
  • Develop relationships with other libraries, cultural organisations and appropriate commercial organisations for the benefit of members 
  • Foster networking opportunities for members 
  • Work with other networks and community organisations to benefit alumni of the University 
  • Raise funds for the Library, particularly the development and maintenance of special, unique and rare collection items and the heritage status of the Barr Smith Library

  • Adelaide University Graduates including graduates of or legacy institutions University of South Australia and University of Adelaide 
  • Current students 
  • Past and present staff members 
  • Anyone who has a common interest in the objectives of the network
