School of Society and Culture

Exploring human social, cultural, environmental, gendered and political life

Adelaide University’s School of Society and Culture explores how human being – in all its breadth, depth and range – manifests in social, cultural, environmental, gendered and political terms. It takes in everything from terrorism to climate change; from crime and deviance to what it takes to sustain robust democracy; from understanding how responsible development can change the world to making ethnographic insights into how to make the world safe for human difference. Our goal is to equip undergraduate and postgraduate students with the critical thinking and practical research skills they need to address some of the most pressing issues of our time.
