Research and industry-led hands-on learning in the lab
The school has access to outstanding laboratory facilities on both Mawson Lakes and City East campuses that support hands on experiential learning and cutting-edge research. They are equipped for experimentation in construction with concrete, including printing, timber and steel, advanced composites and new materials. Diverse structural testing is supported. The labs include geotechnical engineering, geomantics, pavements, climate-controlled soil labs, water and environmental labs, which include high fidelity sensing and measurement, flow and wave simulation. Welding, 3D printing, laser and water jet cutting and other CNC functionality are all available. There is a 1:1 pipe testing facility on Waite Campus. Analogue and advanced computer testing provides the scope to expand and develop new areas of teaching and research. Many facilities and equipment are designed to match those used in industry, preparing students for their future careers. The facilities support hands-on learning through projects that model real-world engineering scenarios.
