About the School of Art and Design

Adelaide University's School of Art and Design is built on the legacy of the South Australian School of Art and the School of Design – home to the world’s first Bachelor of Design degree. Today, we continue to lead in art and design education by championing research-informed practice, hands-on learning, and industry connection.

Our students create in studios equipped with industry-relevant tools, equipment, software and materials, that support engagement with craft and production. They learn from practising professionals, engaging with artists, designers and industry leaders through placements and projects. We actively contribute to industry sector needs and innovation through our research-informed practices.

Our on-campus museums and galleries provide spaces of inspiration for the wider community.
