Adelaide University has recorded strong demand from both domestic and international students for undergraduate programs in its inaugural student cohort, leading the State with more than two thirds of all first preference applications.
By today, Adelaide University will have made a total of 11,107 undergraduate and 650 postgraduate offers to domestic students up to and including the major January SATAC round, marking an important milestone for the nation’s newest university.
Professor Jessica Gallagher, Adelaide University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor International and External Engagement, said the results reflected strong confidence in the University’s academic vision, commitment to graduate outcomes, and global outlook.
“We are delighted, though not surprised, by the level of interest we are seeing from students choosing to study at the new Adelaide University,” Professor Gallagher said.
“These results show that students understand the strength of our programs, which are aligned to the State and nation’s strategic priorities, our commitment to high-quality teaching and research, and the unique opportunities created by bringing together the best of our foundation institutions.”
Among domestic applicants, health and professional degrees continue to be especially popular.
The Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine topped the first preference list, followed by the Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science, the Bachelor of Dental Surgery, the Bachelor of Nursing and the Bachelor of Business.
For students still exploring their study options, there are still opportunities across a wide range of disciplines, including teaching, commerce, computer science and information technology, creative and cultural degrees, and the social sciences.
International student demand has also remained strong. For the first half of the year, Adelaide University has received more than 15,000 international applications, resulting in over 10,000 offers, with momentum building as conversion activities continue across key markets.
Professor Gallagher said the international figures reinforced Adelaide University’s position as a destination of choice.
“It is incredibly encouraging to see such strong interest from international students,” she said.
“Their enthusiasm to study with us speaks to Adelaide University’s global reputation and our focus on delivering an outstanding student experience in a vibrant, welcoming city.”
Adelaide University expects to make further offers in coming weeks to undergraduate and postgraduate students for programs that will help train the workforce of the future.
