To facilitate an effective student experience, the following student transition principles have been developed to provide support to students transferring to Adelaide University, including supporting the transition to their Adelaide University program.

  • Communication: All current students will receive timely and transparent communication regarding any impacts to their student experience, program or courses.
  • Program: Students will be transitioned to an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) equivalent Adelaide University program or have their existing program transferred.
  • Study plans: Current students will receive a transition study plan that outlines their transition credit and remaining studies prior to 2026 enrolments opening.
  • Support: All current students will be provided with support before, during and after the transition to Adelaide University.
  • Credit: Students will be awarded transition credit for the studies completed within their existing program (including credit previously approved at their foundation university).
  • Support arrangements: Existing support arrangements will be maintained for all students to ensure equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Flexibility: Transition arrangements will consider and accommodate students studying part-time, allowing sufficient time for completion of programs.

If you are transitioning to Adelaide University in 2026, you will receive your transition study plan between June and November this year. Your study plan will detail the courses you have completed and those you’ll need to enrol into when enrolments open for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students in late 2025. You will be able to complete your degree in the same timeframe, provided you continue to make satisfactory academic progress.

Please note that the majority of graduate researchers will not receive a study plan as their degrees do not contain coursework. Graduate researchers will instead be contacted with specific advice relating to their transition and Adelaide University program.

If you have any questions once you receive your study plan, our dedicated Transition Support team will be able to help with any queries – contact them via email or phone: +61 8 7420 5101.

Your study plan will include the following information:
• Your personal details, including name, student ID etc.
• Your current/Adelaide University program and plan information (including names and codes).
• The courses you have completed in your current program (including previously approved credit) and how will they be recognised in your Adelaide University program.
• The courses you need to enrol into to complete your degree at Adelaide University, including the code, name and the semester it’s available in.
• Some important study plan notes.

Please be aware that all transition study plans will be based on a full-time load. Students who are currently studying part-time may wish to reach out to their local student support teams in 2026 to have their study plan adjusted to a part-time load.

When the time comes to enrol and you’re searching for your courses, please be aware some courses have similar or the same names. Ensure you are enrolling in the course with the correct code as outlined on your transition study plan.

More information about enrolments will be sent to you prior to them opening.

Every course a student has completed at their foundation university will be credited against an equivalent course at Adelaide University.

Where there is no direct course equivalency from a foundation course to an Adelaide University course, credit will be applied against the Adelaide University course requirements, to ensure program outcomes will be maintained. Students will see their credited courses on their 2026 transition study plan.

We are fully committed to supporting you during the transition to Adelaide University. You will receive timely and open communication regarding any changes to your student experience, your program or any courses. You will be provided with support, both face-to-face and online, before, during and after transition to Adelaide University.

The student support services available at Adelaide University will incorporate all the services currently available to students at the University of Adelaide or the University of South Australia. This includes support services such as general enquiry services, counselling, disability or carer support (including access plans), First Nations student support, graduate research specific services, elite athletes and performer agreements and personalised support for veterans, and the continuation of any ongoing scholarships (subject to meeting ongoing conditions).

For graduate research students, this will also include support through the Adelaide University Graduate Research School.

You can also visit the Support web page to find out more about Adelaide University’s range of support services.

View the Adelaide University Academic Calendar to see the key dates for 2026-2027. Adelaide University has a long-term vision to move to a trimester calendar that will support a more accessible and flexible student experience. We anticipate a gradual transition that will not commence before 2028.

If you’re living in Adelaide and looking for new accommodation, or you’ll be arriving in Adelaide to commence your studies in 2025, please seek accommodation assistance from the education provider you are enrolled with for 2025. Visit the relevant websites for more information:

Both foundation universities have strong, positive relationships with all accreditation partners, and we are working closely with them to ensure all programs at Adelaide University can offer the same professional accreditation as equivalent programs at our foundation institutions. This work is ongoing and a high priority for both Adelaide University and our accreditation partners.

Accreditation information is provided in the accreditation section on individual program webpages and is updated regularly. Degree information for most Adelaide University programs is now available, with the remainder to be added soon. Please check back shortly if your program page is currently unavailable.

Please note that the foundation universities’ internal transfer and credit forms are currently unavailable and will be accessible in the Adelaide University Student Portal later in 2025. If you require assistance in the meantime, please contact Ask Adelaide or Campus Central.

In September, current students received an email introducing you to the new Adelaide University Student Portal, named myAdelaide, and asking you to log in for the first time. Please go back and check your emails from the Adelaide University Transition Support Team. Some students will have to activate their AU student account number prior to logging into the portal. More information about this, including user guides, are available on the technology support page. There are some Frequently Asked Questions about this process available in the FAQ section below too.

Transitioning student communications

Date: Thursday 6 November 2025
From: Student Assist
Subject: [Name], your Path to Adelaide University update

Dear [student name],

We are now in the last quarter of 2025 and would like to provide you with an update on the Q4 milestones highlighted on the Student Path to Adelaide University. You can hear more about the Path to AU by watching the recent Student Webinar, with the recording available on the new myAdelaide student portal.

Enrolling for 2026

Enrolments will progressively open by discipline from Monday 1 December, with individualised study plans continuing to be distributed. More than half have already been delivered, and the remainder will be sent to students before enrolments open. You will find everything you need to know about enrolling and the support available on the Adelaide University website

The website also lists the specific time and date your program/school will open for enrolment. Summer School enrolments will also open at the same time.

You will be able to see the 2026 Adelaide University timetable on the website when enrolments open.

Enrolment Checklist

In October, we emailed you with information about how to complete your Enrolment Checklist. If you haven’t completed this yet, please do so prior to enrolments opening to ensure your enrolment process is as smooth as possible.

Viewing your GPA via the Student Portal

Your Grade Point Average will be available on the myAdelaide student portal by the end of 2025. Your GPA will be recalculated because Adelaide University will adopt a standardised methodology used to determine student GPAs, leveraging the methodologies currently used by the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide.

This recalculation will apply to courses you have completed at your current foundation university only, including courses you commenced and concluded in 2025, or will conclude in early 2026.

While most students will see little or no change, some may experience a minor increase. Students will not experience a decrease in their GPA.

If you are completing your degree in 2025 at a foundation university, your GPA will not be recalculated.

Student ID cards

From 17 November to 19 December 2025, and from 5 January 2026, onwards you will be able to collect your new Adelaide University ID Card onsite at all campuses. You will need your card to access printing and library services, buildings, and concessions in 2026.

For the following locations, you can book a time slot online to pick up your card. The booking form will open on 10 November 2025.

  • Adelaide City Campus (East) - The Hub, Mezzanine or Playford 3-50
  • Adelaide City Campus (West) - Level 2, Jeffery Smart Builidng
  • Magill - Building B, 1-52
  • Mawson Lakes - Building C, 1-37

If you study at Waite, Whyalla, Mt Gambier or Roseworthy campus, your collection window will be confirmed later this month.

The process should take about 5 minutes, and you will need your previous student ID card or a valid form of photo identification to pick up your AU ID card.

If you will be on placement in early 2026, you must collect your AU ID card before the end of this year as you will need it for your placement.

If you are a student who studies externally, from mid-November 2025, our team will begin bulk printing Adelaide University ID cards for 100% online students. As this process takes time, your card may not be posted until early 2026.

You don’t need to take any action right now - once your card has been printed it will be posted to you.

Work Integrated Learning

If you will be undertaking a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activity next year – such as placements, internships and clinics – please enrol in your WIL course(s) as early as possible as you will need to access the new Adelaide University WIL system, AU InPlace. Following enrolment, details of your WIL activities will be sent to your Adelaide University email address.

If you are currently engaged in WIL activities at UniSA or UoA, please continue to use your existing WIL platforms, UniSA InPlace and Uni of Adelaide SONIA, for the remainder of 2025.

Where can I get help

Student support services will continue to operate as usual on your campus. You will have continued access to:

  • Learning, writing and math support services
  • 24/7 support from Studiosity
  • Peer Assisted Study Sessions
  • International student support services
  • Counselling
  • Access & Inclusion/Disability Support services.

If you have an access plan with your foundation university, this will be carried over to Adelaide University. More information about student support will be available in early 2026.

Student Assist, the new enquiries team at Adelaide University, is now live and will support you through the remainder of the transition and onwards at AU. If you need help with any aspect of the transition, please contact Student Assist via email or phone +61 8 7420 5101.

Throughout the remainder of 2025, please keep checking the current student webpage on the Adelaide University website and the new myAdelaide student portal for the latest updates about the transition.

Thank you for your continued engagement as part of the transition to Adelaide University.

With best regards,

The below email was emails to all UoA and UniSA students on 5 November 2025.

Dear Students,

The University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia are united in our commitment to fostering a university environment built on respect, inclusion, and integrity. All students have the right to study in a place where they are valued and treated with dignity. The Universities will not tolerate or condone any form of racism, racial vilification, or discrimination, including antisemitism, Islamophobia, or other forms of racial or religious prejudice. Behaviours such as harassment, bullying, exclusion, or victimisation based on race or religion are unacceptable and will be addressed with the highest priority.

Everyone should feel that they are valued and are a part of our communities. Belonging is something each of us helps to create. It is strengthened by listening to others, engaging with empathy, and choosing to act when behaviour undermines the dignity or wellbeing of our community. Belonging is promoted when we support one another, celebrate diversity, include different perspectives, and treat others with fairness and consideration. Conversely, behaviours such as exclusion, discrimination, harassment, or racial vilification can make students feel unsafe, unwelcome, or excluded. We take seriously our shared responsibility to ensure that our campuses remain places of safety, equality, and belonging.

Looking ahead to the creation of Adelaide University, these values will remain at the heart of who we are. Respect at AU means contributing to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where everyone is treated with dignity and care.

We understand that reporting racist or other inappropriate behaviour you have witnessed or personally experienced can be challenging, and that it often takes courage to speak up. You will be supported throughout the process, whether you choose to make a formal report or simply seek advice. We ensure that necessary safety measures are in place if you feel compromised, that you are connected with the most appropriate support services, and that you are fully informed about your reporting options so you can make decisions that are right for you.

AU Student Advisory Panel wraps up

The Adelaide University Student Advisory Panel wrapped up its two-year journey last week, marking the end of an important initiative that has been essential for embedding student voice in decisions shaping the future of Adelaide University.

Just this year, 64 student panellists contributed in 35 formal sessions and nine co-design workshops, giving over 25 projects meaningful student insights across learning, wellbeing and student experience.

Thank you to the panel members for their role in helping build Adelaide University with students, not just for them.

OneDrive migration (UniSA students only)

Your UniSA OneDrive data will be migrated to Adelaide University in December 2025 and available from 5 January 2026 when you log in with your Adelaide University credentials. Your OneDrive data will still be accessible throughout the migration period via your usual UniSA login. Multiple sweeps of migration will take place during this period to ensure that nothing is missed.

Other important information

  • Study Locations: We don’t expect any significant changes to campus locations for most activities in 2026. Most classes that students attend in 2026 will be in the same locations as they were in 2025. An exception to this may be in cases where Adelaide University can offer students access to specialised facilities that they can’t access at their current university. Any cross-campus timetabling decisions will be made with a student-first approach. Timetables will aim to keep students primarily on the same campuses that they commenced their studies and required travel between campuses will be minimised.
  • Forms: As they become available, AU forms (such as leave of absence, reduction in load, etc.) can be found here.
  • myAdelaide Student Portal: A reminder that more functionality in the new myAdelaide student portal is being released progressively throughout 2025.
  • Academic Calendar: View the Adelaide University Academic Calendar to see the key dates for 2026-2027.

Support

  • Student Webinar: Deputy Vice Chancellor Tom Steer and Pro Vice Chancellor Katrina Falkner recently hosted a Webinar, taking students through the Path to AU and answering your questions. If you weren’t able to join live, a recording is on myAdelaide here.
  • Current student webpage: This page on the Adelaide University website continues to be updated with the latest transition information and FAQs.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your Enrolment Checklist.

Peer Connect Leaders

As a Peer Connect Leader, you’ll play a key role in welcoming new students and providing them with direction and advice about uni life. You’ll be the first point of contact for many new students, welcoming them to Adelaide University and helping them start their journey with confidence. You’ll conduct welcome and mid-study check-in calls, respond to student enquiries, and support university teams with designated tasks. This is a casual employment role with Adelaide University, where you’ll also have the chance to share your own experiences and make a real impact on the student journey. Applications close Sunday 12 October.

Peer Connect Guides

As a Peer Connect Guide, you’ll support new students as they transition to university life. You’ll host campus activities to connect students with peers, share valuable advice and promote available support services – all from a student perspective. This is a volunteer role where your contributions can be recognised by honorarium and exclusive opportunities. Applications close Sunday 16 November.

Global Mates

As a Global Mate volunteer, you'll assist international students at Adelaide University through social activities and events, and help create a sense of belonging, community, and appreciation of cultures. You'll work with International Student Support to host casual events, lead city tours and help international students settle in. Applications close Wednesday 8 October.

UniSA email update (UniSA only)

As part of the transition to Adelaide University, your UniSA email will be migrated to a new Adelaide University (AU) email account in preparation for 5 January 2026.

This is part of the AU student account activation and log on process that we have emailed to all UniSA students, and we ask that you check your UniSA inbox and action the email from the AU Transition Support Team.

For now, please don’t use your AU account or email unless you’re activating your account and logging onto the myAdelaide portal. We will set up automatic forwarding from your AU email to your UniSA email from 22 September 2025 and you will be able to respond to those emails from your UniSA account.
From 5 January 2026, the migration will be complete and you will receive a communication telling you to start using your AU email as your primary account. Until then, please do not turn off the forwarding. Forwarding will remain in place until all UniSA emails have been fully migrated (between 20 December 2025 and 4 January 2026).

For any questions, please contact IT on +61 8 8302 5000.

UniSA’s Magill campus (UniSA only)

UniSA has not changed its current plans to maintain its teaching and research presence at the Magill campus as previously indicated. We have not commenced any planning in regard to relocating Magill programs, nor is this scheduled to commence in the short term.

Reminder: City East campus network outage (UniSA only)

Between 23 September and 3 October 2025, six buildings at the UniSA City East campus will be migrated to the new Adelaide University network. While these upgrades are necessary, they will involve planned outages during the migration period for each building. Visit the UniSA website for updates and to view the planned schedule.

Dear [student name],

Ahead of the transition to Adelaide University, a significant project has been undertaken to review the uniform needs of transitioning students and we wanted to provide you an update on that project.

Replacement mandatory placement uniform with Adelaide University branding will be provided to students at no cost to you. Please note that if you are graduating at the end of 2025, this isn’t applicable, so please disregard.

Instructions for ordering replacement uniform items will be sent to you in the coming months, where you will be able to select the campus you’d like to pick up your uniform from. If you are unable to collect your uniform from one of the campuses, postage will be available at your own cost.

The uniform items that are being replaced depend on the program you are in, with the below listing the items that will be replaced in your program:

Additional uniform items will be available for purchase in January 2026, with more information to come.

Replacement uniforms are only for students that need to attend a placement in their current program, so please do not place an order if you are a graduating student. Orders will be crosschecked with enrolment prior to uniform collection.

Transition Study Plan update

Transition study plan distribution to transitioning students has started and will continue until later in the year. Due to the complex nature of the activity, some students will receive their study plans before others, including those within the same program. Please be assured that you will receive your transition study plan prior to enrolments opening. You will receive an email directly when your study plan is finalised.

More information about the transition to Adelaide University was sent to you via email

on Thursday 14 August from the co-Vice Chancellors. If you haven’t already, we recommend reading that email and checking the Student Path to AU on the Adelaide University website.

Date: Thursday 14 August, 2025
From: Co-Vice Chancellors
Subject: Path to Adelaide University

Dear [student name],

With less than five months to go until Adelaide University opens its doors in January 2026, we want to let you know what you can expect throughout the remainder of 2025 as we transition from the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia to the new Adelaide University.

If you are in your final year of study and aren’t expecting to transition to Adelaide University, what’s outlined below won’t impact you, however we do want you to have the information, just in case your situation changes.

Path to Adelaide University

To help guide your transition to AU, we have created a Student Path to Adelaide University. The Path, along with further information and links, has been added to the Adelaide University current student webpage

The Path includes items that are already completed – you have been told your AU program, you know where to find information about student transition and FAQs, transition study plans have begun to be sent, and remember, all transitioning students will receive their transition study plan before enrolments open in early December 2025. Earlier enrolment is likely required for some cohorts, and this will be communicated at a later date.

In the coming months, you will receive email communications about the following topics outlined on the path:

  • AU student number and log on details
  • AU student portal
  • Enrolment process
  • GPA
  • Where to get support
  • AU student ID card
  • Enrolment opening
  • Personal timetable

Remember, you can also check the current student webpage or contact the Transition Support Team via email or phone: +61 8 7420 5101 if you want more information about transition to Adelaide University.

Legal transfer to Adelaide University

Although you will need to enrol in your courses, the legal transfer of your program enrolment to Adelaide University is supported by legislation and is planned to occur via Proclamation of the South Australian Governor, pending South Australian Government endorsement. There is no action needed from you – this is planned to happen automatically.

Your program enrolment will be aligned to a College (the equivalent of an Academic Unit at the University of South Australia or a Faculty at University of Adelaide) and School, with each College comprising discipline-based Schools. More information about which College your program is aligned to will be shared soon.

Closure of foundation universities

Although Adelaide University will open its doors in January 2026, the official closures of the foundation universities won’t occur until 31 March 2026, or such date determined under legislation. This will allow the 2025 final year students to graduate from their foundation university before the disestablishment date.

During this time of change we appreciate your engagement and collaboration as we collectively complete this project and head towards an exciting new future at Adelaide University. We are looking forward to having you as part of the inaugural Adelaide University student cohort and/or alumni network.

With best regards,

Peter, David and Tom

Adelaide University scholarships update

If you are currently receiving a scholarship, grant, or fee discount from the University of Adelaide or the University of South Australia and are transitioning to Adelaide University, you will retain that support under the existing terms and conditions at the time of your acceptance. More information about this is on the Adelaide University website.

Information about Adelaide University scholarships—both legacy and new—available for application in 2026 can be found on the website. Some scholarships are listed, with additional opportunities to be added progressively from November 2025. Scholarship applications will open in mid-January 2026.

From: Adelaide University Transition Support Team
Subject: Transition Study Plan update

Dear [student name],

We’re getting closer to Adelaide University launching in 2026, and an important step towards transitioning our students to the new university will soon take place.

If you are continuing your studies at Adelaide University in 2026, you will receive an individualised study plan. These study plans will be sent from June onwards in time for enrolments opening in late 2025.

Your study plan will include the following information, with more detail on the current student webpage:

  • Your current and Adelaide University program and plan information
  • The courses you have completed in your current program (including previously approved credit) and how will they be recognised at Adelaide University
  • The courses you need to enrol into to complete your degree at Adelaide University.

When you receive your study plan, there will be a link that will require you to log on using your current University of Adelaide/University of South Australia credentials to access it.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your study plan, check the FAQs on the current student webpage or contact our transition support team via email or phone: +61 8 7420 5101.

2026 enrolments (domestic students only)

Enrolments for Adelaide University will open in late 2025. As you have done previously, you will need to complete an enrolment checklist prior to enrolling for 2026. If you are eligible to defer your fees to HECs you will need to provide your Tax File Number as part of this process, even if you have previously supplied it to your current university.

Other Important Information

Adelaide University student ID number (UniSA students only)

When you view your transition study plan, you may notice both your UniSA ID number and your new Adelaide University student ID number on the plan. This will become your new student ID number for AU, but there is no need to action anything at this time – more information will be sent about this closer to enrolments opening.

Adelaide University student ID number (UoA students only)

When you view your transition study plan, you may notice your current UoA student ID number on the plan. This current ID number will become your Adelaide University student ID number.

Confirmation of Enrolment update (International students only)

As an international student who currently holds a University of Adelaide/University of South Australia Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), you will be supplied with a new Adelaide University CoE before the end of the year. This will happen automatically – no action is needed from you.

Following completion of your 2025 studies, we will cancel your existing UniSA/UoA CoE on your behalf.

Sub majors and minors

If your current UniSA/UoA program includes sub majors and minors, please refer to this FAQ on the current student webpage to find out how these will be managed at AU.

Where to go for help

The current student webpage has been updated with a range of new FAQs, so please check this page if you have initial questions.

If you need more support, our dedicated student transition support team is now available to assist with the transition to Adelaide University. If you have any questions about transition study plans, please contact us.

We are excited to help you through this important step to transitioning you to Adelaide University.

Adelaide University study plan support update

Following on from our study plan update in the last edition, we wanted to give 2025 expected completers an update.

If you are due to complete this year, you won’t initially receive a transition study plan. However, the Student Transition team will monitor your progress throughout the year and if it's identified that a transition study plan is required (for example, after you drop a course or go on leave), a study plan will be developed and sent to you. Those check in points will occur after major result release dates in late July and December.

If any students – whether you’re an expected completer or transitioning student – have any questions, a dedicated transition support team will be ready to support you through this process. From Monday 26 May, a team will be available from 8:30am-6pm Monday to Friday to respond to your study plan and transition queries. Contact the team via email or phone: +61 8 7420 5101.

Adelaide University transition study plan update

If you are transitioning to Adelaide University in 2026, you will receive your transition study plan between June and September this year, detailing the courses you have completed and those you’ll need to enrol into when enrolments open for continuing students in November 2025.
Study plans will be sent in phases and in June, you will be sent an email confirming when you will receive your study plan.

If you have any questions once you receive your study plan, you will be able to contact our specialist transition support team who will help with any queries. The contact details for that team will be included with your study plan.

If you are currently enrolled in a short duration program (for example, Graduate Certificate or Undergraduate Certificate) you won’t receive a study plan before September. We will assess your progress in the second half of the year and if you do need a study plan to transition to AU, one will be provided in time for enrolments opening.

More information and FAQs will be added to the current student webpage over the coming months, so please keep checking this page if you have any questions.

Subject: [NAME], your transition to Adelaide University in 2026

Dear student name,

As you are aware, the new Adelaide University will open on 1st January 2026. Adelaide University’s vision is to bring together the expertise of our foundation institutions to deliver Australia’s most accessible, contemporary and future-focused teaching and learning experience.

The smooth transition of current students from the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia is our top priority, and we will ensure that you have the information and support you need in the lead-up to 2026.

As a student at the University of South Australia / the University of Adelaide, you are currently enrolled in a program that will transition to the new Adelaide University at the end of 2025. Please note that if you complete your studies in 2025, you will graduate from the University of Adelaide/the University of South Australia and will not transition into the Adelaide University Program.

No action is required by you at this time. If you have questions about your program you can review the FAQs or contact Campus Central / Ask Adelaide.

Programs have been mapped to ensure continuing students can access the best our new University has to offer, with no disruption to your study journey, expected completion date or learning outcomes.

Our records indicate you are currently enrolled at the University of South Australia / the University of Adelaide in

[Program Name]

and this program will transition to the equivalent Adelaide University program

[Program Name]

If you're an international student, you can view the CRICOS code for your Adelaide University program on your Adelaide University program webpage. If you cannot find your program at this time, please note that program pages are progressively being released and will be available at a later date.

Study Plans

To ease the transition to the Adelaide University program, all students continuing their studies into 2026 will receive an individual study plan between June and September this year.

The study plan will consider all the courses you have completed in your current program, and any previously approved program credit. It will list the Adelaide University courses you have received this credit for and those that are remaining to be completed.

The duration of your studies will remain as expected, subject to successful completion of remaining courses.

Where to go for support?

You will be fully supported through the transition process and will be provided with the information you need before, during and after your transition to Adelaide University.

More information about the transition will be communicated to you throughout the year, including when you receive your 2026 study plan, ahead of enrolments opening for 2026.
